My CD.

Here is my design and finished product of what i have used to design my CD.

The pictures were taken in Burton.

Comparing my final CD design with this one i have used the same sort of colors but made mine less crowded with lots of writing and just kept mine as minimul as possible, because i just wanted mine to look simple but by putting a little poster card inside so their is something else in there apart from the CD.

I found this part of the task, easy and fun to do, because you could use your own ideas to make your CD, the only part i found hard about this task was getting the research and what sort of pictures/text and the sort of CD package to use.

CD Cover research.

There are many different sorts of designs you can choose from when it comes to making a CD cover, You can get the plain plastic ones, with the booklet inside with the lyrics and photographs in and a cover on the back with the song titles on, or you can go for a fold out cover, where it folds out with little detail on, and have a booklets in a pocket in the middle, with a booklet it, with all of details on, with the song lyrics, and then the CD.

I am thinking of making my CD cover fold out, where it's just one colour, with little detail on, with the Name of the artist on the front, and on the back a picture of the Artist itself, then as you fold it out, there's, words, written by hand, of words used in the lyrics, then, in one of the pockets you would find a booklet with all the song lyrics in, then have a few photos of the artist on the odd page, then the CD would be placed in the centre pocket and the last pocket would have the list of all the songs on the CD, and websites to the Artists web page.

CD Cover task.

In this task we had to get research on different types of CD covers you can get, and see how we could make one ourselves and design the cover, the booklet and the back, to make it our own, with a CD inside.

At the moment were only a few days into this task, but I'm finding quiet enjoyable because you can design it how you want it to look, and to show other people what your ideas are instead of just writing them down.

So far I haven't designed mine just yet, because I want to get as much research into this task as I can possibly get, then start designing the CD cover.

Evaluation.

In this assignment we had to research, magazine covers, album artwork and music videos, and a band that we liked, then find a band or solo artist who would like to make a video and have a photo shoot in the studio.

The first thing we had to do was make a blogger account, so we could put all our work and research on it, then we had to research a band we liked, and say why we liked them, then research magazine covers, album artwork and say way we liked or disliked them, then research music videos and say why we liked or disliked them.

Then as a group, me, Emily, Meg and keirein went out to do a location shoot, around Burton and take as many pictured as possible to put on out blog.

I have found this blogger quiet difficult because you had to make sure everything is up to date it is easy to use, but just getting enough information in the blog so there's more information then pictures, doing a blog is a good idea because you can put information straight from the internet onto the blog.

Using Polaroid to take Photographs.

Polaroid Supercolor 600.

I have chose to take some of my location shots using a Polaroid camera, just to be different to everyone else, but the only problem is, is the price of the film which is around £24.99 for color, and around £18.00 for black & white, but only has 10 sheets per single pack.

I would like to take pictures using a polaroid camera because it would be different to how everyone else would do their photo shoot, but the only problem is, it the price of the film and how many i would need to get for a photo shoot.

Most of the pictures i will take will be a mixture of digital in the studio and polaroid.

Locations.

I like this picture because I like how the 3 subjects are like silhouettes and you can see the greenery in the arched background.

I like how this picture has been taking a an angle, and how the people are just hiding behind the bollards.

This is a good idea for a photo because you get the model, to stand on the bridge and look towards where the photographer is, but the only problem is the model in this picture is wearing clothes that merge in with the background, so you would need to wear black to make her stand out from the background.

Music Videos.

Kesha - Take it off!

I like the video because, the sound track is memorable, it has a beat that you want to dance/sing along to, and i like how its set, in a warn out town, rusty cars, people running around, and people kicking trash, i also like how near the end it's set in a club, where there dancing around, jumping about and throwing colored powder around.

Katy B - Katy on a mission.

I like this video because, i like how its set in a studio then changes to when she's performing live, and how its set in a night scene.

Festivals.

Glastonbury: 

I like glastonbury because, they have bands i like play live there, and its good for kids, because they have games and activities for everyone, so it's not just for adults, and its a good place to go camping, and have entertainment at the same time.

Download:

I like download because it plays music, from screamo, to heavy metal, to rock all different types of loud, heavy music, you can camp there, get drunk, but you have to be over 18 to go, or have an adult with you i your younger then 18.

I like this album cover because, its different, bright and it reminds me of popart :)

Magazine Artwork.

Q Magazine: Front cover: Kings Of Leon.

I think the cover for this magazine is too busy, because of the glass, and 3 different kinds of font/color, used to make it stand out. I have to admit it does stand out, but for me not for good reasons, if i was to design a cover for a magazine, i would choose not to put glass in it but just have the band member jump.

Entertainment magazine: Front cover: Alicia Keys.

I like how this magazine is set out because it's simple and not in your face, it's simple. i like how the portrait image is the main back drop of the magazine, and just simple font for around the edges of the magazine, with a simple picture in the left hand corner of Jennifer Aniston.

RollingStones magazine: Front Cover: Kings of Leon.

I like the style of this magazine because its based on a western setting, with a landscape of trees, grass and hills behind the band, and the band in jeans, hats, like cowboys, with a western font at the bottom and on the right hand side, the only thing i don't like about this magazine, is the information on the right hand side of the page, i would of put it along the bottom.
